MEMBER SPOTLIGHT…..
Each month, we will profile a member of Women in Relocation to highlight their efforts in their communities and personal life. This month, Joan Erni from Michael Saunders shares a little about herself and the causes she supports.
Joan Marie Erni is the Director of Relocation and Referral Services for Michael Saunders and Company in Sarasota, FL. In her role Joan oversees all the business development divisions that fall under “Referral Services”. These include: Relocation, Internet Leads and Customer Service, and the Residential Asset Management Group. Joan has earned the Certified Relocation Professional (CRP™) and Global Mobility Specialist (GMS) designations from Worldwide ERC. Over her career Joan has held many positions; Outgoing Coordinator, Incoming Coordinator, Corporate Property Manager, REO Manager, Relocation Director and Vice President of Relocation. Joan brings this experience and broad understanding of all phases of real estate and relocation business to her current position, making her an effective, hands-on manager, who contributes to the success of her division and by extension the company she works for. Joan’s love for the industry, and enthusiastic support of the referral endeavor, makes her a happy and willing mentor to those new to the field. Joan participates as a Mentor in the Leading Companies of the World formalized Mentor Program.
Joan is an active member of the Relocation Directors Council (RDC) and serves on RDC’s Board of Directors. She was the Planning Chair of the Relocation Directors Council’s Fall Meeting held recently in Denver, CO (10/12/11). Her duties as Chair were to oversee all aspects of the meeting, from decorations and registration, to the evening’s Client Appreciation Reception.
The meeting was a huge success, with a record number of attendees. The meeting was kicked off by Denver School of the Arts student and soprano soloist, Tallis Loy.
With the help of a hardworking and dedicated committee, the meeting included 13 roundtables, 3 RDC University topics, and a panel about the challenges of relocation and meeting the needs of transferees, made up of representatives from all segments of the relocation industry.
RDC has made it a tradition to give back to the community that hosts their meeting.
This year, the organization collected 8 large boxes of food (several hundred pounds) for the Food Bank of the Rockies, and through generous contributions of members, also collected $1,180.00 in cash donations. RDC is proud that many local families will have food on their table because of the generosity their membership.
Over her career Joan has been awarded the Relocation Coordinator of the Year by AllPoints Relocation; the President’s Award for Service, and the Chairman’s Award for Service, from Leading Real Estate Companies of the World.
Joan is a former Long Islander, a dedicated daughter, loving wife and proud mother of son Brian and her new daughter-in-law, Lauren. If you have an interest in joining our group, feel free to call any of our members. There is no initiation or annual fee. If you would like to be on our website, we ask for a donation to the group we are supporting. We would love it if you could make any of our meetings but the most important thing to us is the groups we support. Our goal this year is 100% member participation so all donations made will go directly to the group we have chosen to support this year, The Bridge Fund of Westchester and The Bridge Fund of New York.
